Oliver Anthony Movement

“Therefore let us stop passing judgement on one another. Instead make up your mind not to put
any stumbling block or obstacles in the way of your brother or sister” Romans 14:13
It saddens my heart each time I look around my country and see an inevitable truth, America
is losing herself. We’ve lost our sense of community and with it our identity. I would go as far as
saying we’re fucked, and that’s me putting it nicely. We’ve become a very individualistic
society, with a culture built on a “Me, Myself and I” attitude. Many are lost in their own bubble,
they fail to feel the world around them.
I learned a saying a while back “It takes a village to raise a child” and I couldn’t agree more.
It takes me back to growing up in the countryside, everyone doing their best to not just look after
themselves but also their brothers, sisters, neighbors and friends. Literally speaking, people cared
for more than just themselves, there was a sense of belonging and togetherness. There were
shared beliefs, morals, values and a sense of identity. We’ve become a society that is deeply
divided on every important issue, and it’s sad that strong societal pillars such as family and
values aren’t exempted. People killing, people dying, children hurting and it feels like just
another day at the office, damn that’s messed up. WHERE’S THE LOVE?
The good book says love your neighbor as you love yourself. If we’re going to grow as a
people and as a society, we have to reform our minds and how we view the world around us. We
need to become a community again; look after one another, regain our lost values and identity.
We need to move from a society that only cares about the amount of zeroes in our pockets to one
that genuinely cares about the lives of our people. We need to become a group of people with
shared beliefs and values. The people around us should have a feeling of support, a shared faith
that their voices be heard through oneness. There’s this sweetness that comes from seeing the
people around us happy and in good health. Our “I’s” need to become “We”.
We don’t have to wait for some man in suit to save the day, greater is he that is in us than he
that is in the world. As a community, we have the power to drive change and make positive
impact on the Society, one person at a time. A little kindness to the person next to you can cause
a ripple effect that positively impacts an entire generation. I wish above all things that we be our
brother’s keeper.
